Historical & Cultural
There has been settlement in Perth from very early times and so its history is long going back to Mesolithic and Neolithic eras as evidenced by cup and ring marked and standing stones.  Later history was eventful and castles like Burleigh (Milnathort) opposite and the better known Blair Castle at Blair Atholl still stand. Blair is shown in the video.
Perth Museum and Art Gallery contains much of local and area interest, both historical and artistic and is within walking distance. The Fergusson Gallery sited along at the South end of Tay Street and near the South Inch park contains the works of John D Fergusson one of the renowned Scottish Colourists. The former Perth Waterworks was converted into the gallery in 1992 and is pictured opposite.
Perth Theatre in the High Street and the Perth Concert Hall in Horsecross are the two main venues for plays and concerts catering for a wide range of interests and tastes. Both have restaurants and bar facilities. The Playhouse cinema is also central in Perth with its 1933 Art Deco design and a good selection of current films on at any given time.
